About Paws for Growth

How I began this work

My start was in care. For over ten years I worked as a phlebotomist and sat with people at vulnerable times. That taught me how to stay calm, listen closely and give steady support. Alongside that, dogs were always part of my life. Growing up with Dobermans and later living with Indi shaped the way I see care: simple presence, kindness and responsibility matter most. Over time I trained in counselling and energy healing, and I built a business caring for pets. All of this came together and led me to Paws 4 Change—where dogs help people learn to feel and connect in gentle, practical ways.

What I believe and teach

I believe dogs teach us how to be present and kind to ourselves. My sessions are small, practical and warm. We use short, repeatable tools so you can feel better that day and keep building from there. Learning here is client-led—you tell me what you need and we go at your pace. I don’t use big jargon or complicated methods. Instead, I show simple breathing, grounding and communication exercises you can do with a dog or on your own. The aim is gentle growth: more calm, clearer communication and steady confidence that fits your life.

Life beyond sessions

Outside of sessions I’m a mum, a walker on the bay and a quiet lover of tai chi and night-time journalling. I host small dinner gatherings on the Mornington Peninsula for people who want heart-led conversation and connection. Caring for Indi in her older years taught me patience and gratitude, lessons I bring into every session. I also run a holistic pet care business and enjoy helping pet owners keep animals calm and well. My life and work are about slow, steady care—practical tools, gentle presence and a bit of joy along the way.
