Emotional Support Visits

Visits with dogs

What happens on a visit

Emotional support visits are short, warm meet-and-greets with a calm dog and me. We visit homes, schools or community spaces and spend time quietly sitting, stroking and being present. The dog’s calm energy often helps people relax, lower stress and feel more connected. Visits are gentle—no pressure to interact if someone doesn’t want to. I always check comfort, allergies and safety before a visit. These sessions are great when you or your group need a lift, a quiet break or a grounding moment during a busy day.

I’ll tailor the visit to the space and the people, and leave simple tips for keeping the calm going after we’ve left.

Who benefits most

People of all ages enjoy emotional support visits, especially those who feel lonely, anxious or are managing hard days. They work well in aged care, schools, hospitals and community groups. Children often open up more around a dog, and adults find the calm presence helps them breathe and slow down. I take care to match the dog’s temperament to the space and will never push interaction. Carers and staff often tell me these visits make a real, gentle difference to the day and create a softer mood in the room.

If you’re organising a group or want a short one-on-one visit, I’ll help plan what suits best.

Booking and safety

To book a visit we’ll talk about location, participants and any health or allergy concerns. I carry public liability insurance and each dog is assessed for calm, reliable behaviour. I’ll explain safety rules and get consent before any hands-on contact. Visits can be one-off check-ins or regular short sessions depending on your needs. I aim for simple, nourishing experiences that respect everyone’s comfort. After a visit I’ll share tips to keep the calm and ways people can practise grounding skills between visits.
